Can anyone confirm how the BenQ w4100i vertical lens shift actually works? The manual has contradictory info and different calculators show it differently too.
The manual says the vertical offset is about 5%, with a diagram showing the top of the screen just below the lens centre line for a ceiling installation. The specs and reviews then suggest a 60% vertical lens shift, from which I was expecting to be able to position the screen down from the ceiling without needing a projector lift (will be hidden in a soffit).
However the diagram on the next page of the manual showing the lens shift suggests that the 0 position is measured from the midpoint of the screen rather than the top like it is for their other projectors, which means if you have the projector on the ceiling you actually have to use nearly all of the 60% (ie 50% of the screen height) to get the screen back down to the wall. Their calculator shows you actually hardly have any downward movement at all as a result (basically the same as cheaper models) but you can have it half on the ceiling if you want 🙄
Which is right?
