DoorDash didn’t honor hourly rate and shorted my pay by $23
I was thinking about reaching out to an attorney but thought it might be better to show this happening to multiple people.
Today I waited for an order for over an hour and the total time was 2 hours and 2 mins on an order from Lupe Tortilla.
I was dashing at an hourly rate of $16.50 an hour. So, I should have received around $39.00 including the $6.00 tip. While waiting at the restaurant there were other dashers there that were getting the hourly rate and waiting as long as I was. The dashers showing up that were doing the per offer were unassigning and leaving due to the delay. I stayed in contact with the customer and updating the delay timing as DoorDash requires.
When I dropped offer the order and entered the PIN number it had been 2 hours and 2 mins BUT…..I only received $16.34 The base pay was $10.34 and the rest was the customers tip. When I called DD to require why I was shorted they only told me they would only pay the $10.34 because they were basing it by the radius. I explained over and over I was not working per job and I was hourly just like all the other orders I completed prior to that order but they told me over and over there was nothing they can do and never gave me a real explanation. They labeled the pay on that order as extra delivery pay and the base pay which doesn’t make sense to me.
I realize I’m only shorted $23 but I spent over 2 hours on Mother’s Day on a single order knowing I was getting an hourly rate. I would have unassigned instantly if I knew they were not going to honor the hourly rate as promised when I accepted it and I’m absolutely PISSED OFF about it.
Has this happened to anyone else?? Any advice on how to proceed?
