HYSA VS Brokerage for down payment on a Primary Residence

Hi all,

I’m curious what your take is on how much money someone should keep in a HYSA.

Would it make more sense to keep only about six months’ worth of expenses there, invest everything else in the market, and then sell those investments when it’s time to buy a home?

Or is it smarter to invest while also continuing to build up the HYSA over time, so that when the time comes to buy a home, I wouldn’t have to sell investments or potentially pay capital gains tax?
