My Collection ☺️
The first one is the Jelado Engineering Boots Type 1. It is made of vegetable-tanned horsebutt leather, and they used a pigment finish to dye it black. As far as I know, over time, a teacore effect will come through the black dye. Jelado didn't make a 1-to-1 vintage copy; they are using an unstructured toe and added one gusset for better movement, as it isn't as stiff as other engineering boots I've tried on. Somehow, I've got a better heel lockdown on these engineering boots.
Moving on to the Double Helix Matrix 5.0, also in Teacore finish. Double Helix is well known for their leather jackets, and if I remember correctly, they started selling boots 1 year ago. There were some incorrect stitchings and loose threads, but no issues. At first, I didn't like how the boot fit. Later on, I got some Darn Tough socks, and now I really like how it is. Double Helix is also using Butthorse Leather, but from Nitta, and they also have some "Tiger stripes" on them, which I really like. The only thing I don't like about them is how the vamp looks. I really hoped for rolls instead of creases that look like "loose grain." Also, the sole feels kind of slippery if I walk on smooth surfaces, but in the end, I am very happy with how these boots look in general.
The next one is the M-43 from Buzz Rickson x William Gibson black roughout service boots. Well, what can I say? It was my first time seeing roughout leather and my first time using cowhide in general. They feel very soft and not as hard as horsebutt. Buzz Rickson is well known for their "historically accurate" reproductions with top-notch quality. They partnered with William Gibson and started to produce some of the clothes the character had in his books (correct me if I am wrong). These feel very, very good, and instead of moving against me when I walk, it feels like these move with me when I walk. It also feels like the leather is embracing me, and that's what I really like about it.
The last one is the Bozeman Blaumann Indigo from Sandmancraft. These were also made from cowhide, but I got them only like 3 days ago as a gift from my mum :>, and I couldn't wear them or might not even wear them because they are sadly one or half a size too big... but still, I really like the color of these, and they also come with indigo-dyed leather shoelaces, and if only I had these one size smaller, god damn.
