Not sure if I worded that correctly but I think it gets the message across. I have a kastking centron lite open reel and it says it’s rated for 4lb line and 6lb line. I’ve been using 6lb mono and it’s been good but it’s annoying as hell to tie knots and I haven’t caught any real big fish yet, so I’m worried if I do my line will snap being that light. I have some 6lb braid on the way but my question is how crucial is it to stick to 4-6lb for that reel? I’d like to go up to at least 8 but not sure if that’s alright or not. Also, my fiancé got a rod/reel from her grandpa and her reel is rated only for 10lb, would the 6lb braid be alright on that? It’s a Shakespeare closed reel. TIA
