Hello everyone,

I received an email on April 28th, to schedule and register to take the written exam, and it stated I have 10 days from when I register to schedule my exam. So does that mean, I have 10 days from when I pay the $25 exam fee? Or 10 days from when I received the email?

I was out of the country, when I got the email, and came back home yesterday, so I couldn't register then. If it's actually: 10 days from when I got the email, then I only have now and 2 days to study.... Which is stressful. I need help.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

Two days ago, I received an email inviting me to complete a computer-based multiple-choice exam. I applied in January 2026.

I have a resume showing 6 years of customer service work. And also a resume showing a 5 month season of wildland firefighting in California and South Dakota. I was and still really excited about this potential opportunity. I have read that people say you will have no life outside of work, for your first several years, no social life and irregular, long hours.

But, at 25, it seems like a great opportunity and the social life is no biggie at all, I can do without. I would like people's thoughts on this opportunity, especially how it can be good for someone my age. I began reading about it, learning there is an in person practical test, a union, seniority, I'll be on call basically.

So I'm not doing this only for money, but I can see it being a great thing for me, being 25. It's something I can put my all in. I am used to long hours, stress, irregular hours - all I had to experience as a wildland firefighter and more.

Please, is this something I should pass up, and focus on college now? Any advice for the exam and job tips are appreciated too!

Thanks
