I've applied for a number of jobs in my field in the VPS recently. I feel I am a good candidate; I hold a PhD in the issues that the department deals with and I also have practical experience in the non-profit sector. However, I just received a rejection today for a Policy Officer job, without even getting offered an interview. I meet all the KSC so I'm very surprised. I haven't heard back about the other jobs, but they were all applied for between 30 March and 21 April. Should I assume that if I haven't heard back by now, that they have moved forward with another candidate? Is it normal to not get an interview even if you meet all the KSC?

I am incredibly fussy when it comes to shoes but have found that any Ecco shoes I've worn are comfortable. I have a pair of Ecco leather brogues that I got from the op shop and sometimes wear a pair of my sister's, but I don't buy leather shoes for ethical reasons. Does anyone have any good recommendations? For reference, these are the style of boots that my sister wears.
