Is What I’m Asking for Realistic?
Sorry for vague title, but i’ve been having trouble finding what to play for months. The best I can describe is difficult games with mechanics to learn, yet are or eventually become mindless enough to where you can just listen to some music or watch a video in the background as you play. Also where said difficulty isn’t inflated by needing to grind stats or by other players way better then you are. Said mindlessness not coming from getting OP stuff in the game, but because of your own skill. (This is really all you need to read. Rest is just additional info.)
Theres only really three things I currently play that go with this, but none of them fully check all my points aside difficult until you develop the skills. Those being Fortnite (builds specifically), rhythm games, and the the Touhou games. Should I go more into the genres these games are from or find something else? I’ve been wanting to play more shooters, but a lot of them too competitive for me. Touhou is one of the easier shmups and the rest of the genre just feels daunting or it’s difficulty artifically inflated, though I guess those really only apply to ones that were from arcades. I’d be willing to try more and I probably will soon. They are super rewarding to learn, something i’m looking for. I don’t really have anything to say regarding rhythm games on this I love the entire genre.
I also notice from these picks of mine, you can really get invested in content then just the game. Best way I can explain it. Fortnite is much more then BR, both inside and “outside” the game. Rhythm games are such a vast genre that if you get bored of one or the typical gameplay, there are plenty others. Touhou is also so much more then the games and i’ve loved everything surrounding it. But I think i’m asking for too much for another game that can offer that.
For games i’ve tried recently, really only three . Deadlock, thought it was so cool but too much. HOI4. I really tried to learn the mechanics and that was really fun but it eventually got boring. I was really only invested for like 2 weeks. Also slightly fits the can get obsessed with more then just the game. And Risk of Rain 2. I just didn’t like it. Once again, sorry if this post is all over the place.
All I ask is please no Vampire Survivor type games.
