so I launched this small SaaS recently (called MyFormConnect) and thought I’d share something weird that happened

got around ~187 users pretty quickly after launch, all confirmed accounts. felt like a solid start

then I started noticing stuff like:

  • repeated signups that didn’t look human
  • bots trying random injections
  • random spam getting pushed through forms
  • scripts just poking at endpoints

which is kind of ironic because one core aspect of what I built is to prevent exactly this

anyway… had to make a call:

either keep the numbers (and pretend it’s growth),
or clean everything up and accept the drop

I ended up tightening everything + removing a bunch of suspicious users

now the numbers look way worse lol. sadly. and every other day people say got 1000+ users in 3 days of launching. 🤯

didn’t expect this part, but it actually feels bad watching your user count go backwards even if you know it’s the right move

curious how others think about this:

would you have kept them just for the optics early on?
also… is getting bot traffic this early a normal thing or did I mess something up 😅
