2005 Altima, leak occurs only when pumping and under car only, so no blow back from the gas port, even though there is noticeable rust surrounding. No leaking while parked or when idling either. Tried manually pumping slow and leaving the auto-fill latch down, didn't seem to make a difference. Should I try pumping into a cannister and dribbling it in slower? Would appreciate any other diagnostics before taking it in and possible parts that are the culprit.
Car is a local driver for my mom, very minimal use per week. Might run through 8 gallons in a month. Hard to extrapolate how much gas is lost on a pump like that, less than a gallon (~$4 worth). Started seeing this a few months ago.
