Problems with queens admissions

Ontario applicants need to start pushing back against queens front-loading almost all admissions before semester 2 marks are even released.
If a university openly states that ~90% of offers were already sent before second semester midterms, then let’s be honest: students improving their grades in semester 2 were never truly being considered fairly.
What makes this worse is that this was apparently tied to residence deadlines and enrollment management. So instead of fixing the housing/timeline issue, applicants are the ones absorbing the consequences.
Thousands of students spend months grinding to raise their averages because universities continue accepting updated OUAC marks. But what’s the point if the vast majority of seats are effectively gone already?
This needs to change. And we as students need to start a petition.
Petition demands:
Move residence guarantee deadlines later

Reserve a meaningful number of admission spots for semester 2 applicants

Be transparent about how many seats actually remain after April

Stop advertising ongoing consideration if admissions are basically finished

Students deserve a fair admissions system, not one decided before the school year is even over.
