Pain and Training
Hi everyone,
I’m doing my first Ironman on June 14th in Klagenfurt, Austria, and I could really use some advice from more experienced athletes.
For about a month now, I’ve had a mild pain/tightness in my calf. It’s not severe, and I can still do light training, but it’s definitely preventing me from training properly and with higher intensity. The strange thing is that it mostly gets worse after cycling.
At this point, I’m unsure what the smartest strategy is this close to the race. Should I completely stop training and just focus on recovery until race day? Or should I continue with light/easy sessions to maintain fitness?
Since this is my first Ironman, I honestly don’t know what the best approach is right now, and I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have dealt with something similar before a big race.
Thanks a lot!
