I’m in a resale store right now and notice they have the big Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema box available for $100. It’s preowned and behind a glass display. I’ve had this on my radar for a while, but I’m not desperate to buy it. Still, I feel like it’s a good idea to take a look for any defects and maybe pick it up. It seems like a good deal. Thoughts?
I've seen advice for drivers to have dash cams that capture the cabin. I can certainly understand this for folks who drive full-time or at times when they're likely to encounter passengers who may not be well behaved. I'm planning to drive almost exclusively during morning and sometimes evening commute hours, and I'm wondering how common incidents are at these hours where dash cam footage would be helpful. If I'm likely to get mostly quality passengers during these hours, I'd like to avoid people canceling due to not being comfortable with recording.
If I end up going with a 3-channel camera that captures the cabin, what models are folks using? I'd like as seamless / OEM look as possible for equipment that's also easy enough to install (no crazy wires going everywhere). I drive a current generation Toyota Prius for reference.
Just got a new Prius PHEV several weeks ago, and I'm interested in getting a 3-channel dash cam installed (I want interior since I might be doing occasional ride share). What is everyone using? I'd like a seamless OEM look to the extent possible, or at the very least not have cables running across my windshield/dash. I'm fairly handy when it comes to installation, although I've never wired any electronics on a new vehicle like this. I'd be willing to pay for professional installation and wiring if that would be better.
Would love folks' recommendations!
I posted about this earlier as a 401(k) loan that was in default and that I had hoped to bring current, only to realize that my brokerage already filed a 1099-R as an early distribution. I only noticed this after I filed my 2025 taxes and they were accepted by the IRS. I know that they will eventually come after me for this owed tax (likely about $17,000 based on my tax bracket ($12,000 + $5,000 as an early withdrawal penalty). I would really like to avoid as much interest as possible and certainly the 20% accuracy-related underpayment penalty. I understand that my best course of action is to file and amended return and pay the tax ASAP rather than wait for a notice in 6-12+ months.
The problem is, while I can file this amended return now, I am not in a position to pay this tax now. I could probably get it paid under a short-term payment plan by October/November, but not sooner. Will filing the amended return now and setting up a payment plan for the tax owed raise any red flags? Should I hold off until I'm in a position to pay the entire balance due (probably September at the earliest)? I'll likely owe about $2,500 in state taxes too, which I assume would be triggered by an amended federal filing.
